You can find them everywhere in the free nature, but also in de builded areas of Bonaire. Still there's a lot of presure on the environment of the iguana. Traffic and the increase of rising buildings en houses have a negative input on the total environment.

The iguana on Bonaire is also called ("boomkip"' Dutch for "treechicken), because of the fact that he tastes like chicken. So the iguana on Bonaire finds his way also in a delicious soup. The hunt on iguanas is a an extra threat. Eating this soup is based on superstition. The iguana has namely two penises. People (male) on Bonaire believe that eating this soup, their potency will increase.

The green iguana on Bonaire can be at least 2 meters, including his tail. An adult iguana looks very expressive with his backcomb. Normally the iguana likes sunbading. On a wet and grey day they  stay in their hidingplaces.
